Jill Kirk is the current band director at Colbert Heights High School in Tuscumbia, AL. She has received her Bachelor’s and Master's Degrees in Music Education from the University of North Alabama.  After being a part of the band for sixteen years, Jill knows that music provides an unrivaled medium for necessary life lessons encompassing important characteristics, including collaboration skills, time management, communication skills, and perseverance.  As a member of the UNA Band, Jill has performed as the principal oboist in the UNA Symphonic Band and UNA Wind Ensemble. Jill is also a member of the Shoals Symphony Orchestra, where she has served as the assistant principal oboist, the principal oboist, and the English horn player.  In 2019, Jill traveled to Spain for nearly three months for a volunteer teaching program where she taught English at a rural school in Frómista, Spain. As a band director, Jill has built up the Colbert Heights band program into an award-winning ensemble that consistently receives superior ratings in competition and Music Performance Assessment. Jill loves to see her students succeed and only wishes that her students become better versions of themselves after leaving her band program. When not doing things related to music or teaching, Jill enjoys going deep-sea fishing, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family.
